Dear 4th, 5th, and 6th graders,
As a teacher, I heard the moans and groans from you each week about the homework assignment. However, I realized how important it is to practice what we have learned. Homework gives the student a greater understanding and competency in the lesson taught. Homework is a fact of life for students throughout their academic life and even in adult careers. Developing a positive attitude can mean even greater success.
1) Set a regular homework time. It is best if you get into a routine, with homework at a set time each afternoon. Allow yourself some time to relax and unwind after school, have a snack. Then set a regular time for homework to be done.
2) Give yourself a quiet place to study. The more distractions you can eliminate, the better your will concentrate. So, do not chat while doing your homework.
3) Develop a positive attitude toward homework. You often feel overwhelmed by homework, especially as you reach 5th and 6th grade and the quantity and complexity of assignments increases. Try to prioritize assignments by difficulty, and approach the most challenging tasks first.
4) Good time management. Time management is planning ahead. When you know how to manage your time you gain control. Rather than busily working here, there, and everywhere (and not getting much done anywhere), effective time management helps you to choose what to work on and when. This is essential if you're to achieve anything of any real worth.
I love you all. Looking forward to seeing your improvements. Actually I have already seen the sign from the test results.
Your teacher
Julia
